Nigerian Independence Day

If you think Nursing school is hard, try being a first generation Nigerian born in the U.S. by immigrant parents from Nigeria. They raised me with an ambitious desire to be everything God has called me to be and more (like a Doctor 👩🏾‍⚕️or Pharmacist👩🏾‍🔬 lol)! The hard part is facing failure when you come from a culture that thrives on success, especially educationally. So imagine the expression on my parents face when they found out their first born daughter is not going to be a "Doctor" or a "Pharmacist" and on top of that, fails at her first attempt in Nursing school 😅🤯😩. Boy that was one hell of a season!

The beauty about my culture and what my parents have taught me is that, I will ALWAYS be the head and NEVER the tail. You might fall but getting up is a must. If your bloodline is from Nigeria, then you know failure isn't an option. Wishing all my fellow Nigerians happy Independence day, I'm always rooting for us!

Ps. If dealing with failure is a struggle for you, befriend a Nigerian and thank me later😉
